Starring New York

Ahead of our upcoming trip to New York I have been watching lots of films based in New York. I think New York is a great place to film scenes as the city is like a character in its own right, some really showcase New York and all its beautiful loctaions so here are some of my Favourites.

You've got Mail (1998)

You've got Mail is with out a doubt my favourite film, I just love the chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan but what I love the most is the use of New York from Meg Ryan's Character Kathleen Kelly's quaint little bookstore to their strolls throughout the city. Just as Tom Hank's character says "Don't love New York in the fall? makes me want to buy school supplies"

New years Eve (2011)

I have watched this every New Years since it came out, I'm not really a fan of New Years so I love to just stay in and watch a movie. New Years Eve is essentially based on the lives of New Yorkers and their lead up to midnight at times square. Plus how cute it Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer's dancing at the end!

Something Borrowed (2011)

With its all star cast and the fact that its based in my favourite city New York this film had to make the list. Being one of my favourite films combining New York, Weddings (well an almost wedding), the romance between Dex and Rachel, comedy  and a pretty hard Dance routine its certainly one of my go to movies. Rachel lives in a Brownstone apartment in New York and I'm obsessed with Brownstone houses this film makes me want to move to New York even more just so I can live in a Brownstone apartment!

That Awkward Moment (2014)

Three friends find themselves in the confusing moment of every relationship "so where is this going"
leading the friends vowing to stay single. Filmed throughout New York the film features many cute little spots around New York, I especially love when they steal the key from the gorgeous brownstone houses and break into Gramercy park.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)

When Harry Met Sally is another one of may favourite Meg Ryan films. As you can see in the image above the shot captures the fall  foliage amazingly so there is no doubt that this film captures New York through the seasons excellently. I can't wait to see New York in the fall, I've been there in the summer so it will be good to be there in a different season.  As well as the beautiful scene at the Met where Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are standing making funny voices with all the beautiful windows behind them.

Barefoot in the Park (1967)

The comedic 1967 film starring Jane Fonda and the handsome Robert Redford is another favourite of mine set in New York.  From their wedding to the cute new apartment the newly weds purchase all the way through coping with newly married life this quirky comedy is brilliant. All the way too Robert Redford dancing barefoot in Washington Square park its just all too good.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

How could I not mention Breakfast at Tiffany's when speaking about films which highlight New York    the whole film screens New York. A eloquently dresses Audrey Hepburn from the little black dress to the pearls shines just as much as New York does in this film.

Elf (2003)

Okay I know it is still a little while away from Christmas but how could I not mention Elf. No shame but I did watch Elf the other night just because I am so excited for my trip to New York. And who doesn't love a little christmas anytime of year, as well as a little dose of Will Ferrell every now and then. More than anything I love seeing New York at Christmas time hopefully I will be able to see it myself one day but for now I'll just carry on watching Elf.

Motivation

As part of my college course this year we have to deliver presentations and in the past for me I always hated the idea of standing up in front of the class and talking. Wither it was the fact that I felt like I was being judged or I was self couscous I just didn't like it.  I'm am still quite shy - although working in a restaurant has helped bring me out of my shell a little bit but I still get nervous at certain things.

So with two oral presentations coming up before Christmas -seem ages but still quite soon- I have been watching you tube clips of  my favourite stars or people who inspire me giving presentations or interviews and I  have been getting a little inspiration from their presentations or interviews for my own presentation.

Mindy Kaling's speech at Harvard Law School
I'm a little obsessed with The Mindy Project and Mindy Kaling for that matter. With her pop-culture references  - we are very alike, I use too many pop- culture references-wither that be in her show or in real life, she is hilarious if you listen to her in interviews she is completely honest and her humour is brilliant. What she says in this speech really inspired me and no matter how silly it sounds she is one of my role models.

I would love to know who your role models are?
